Frequently Asked Questions...
What document formats are supported for legacy import?
SerialSafe supports Comma Separated (*.csv), Tab Delimited Text (*.txt) and data table formatted XML (*.xml) documents.
What document formats are supported for embedded preview?
Document preview support is based on current preview handlers installed on the system. The preview feature takes advantage of Windows IPreviewHandlers so many document formats are supported. Common formats are, .jpg, .png, .bmp, .ico, .txt, .xml, .doc, .docx, .xls, .xlsx, .pdf and more.
Performing import, add or delete functions sometimes are slow; why?
By default SerialSafe enables compacting on the database. This feature is designed to ensure that the database runs in an efficient manner. As the database grows in size this compact feature takes longer to process. This feature can be disabled in the Settings > Database > Enable Dynamic Database Compacting. Don't worry, you can still perform the compact manually via the main interface from Database > Compact Database drop down menu command.
Can I store images, emails, receipts and/or other information about my software?
Yes, each product/version supports embedding of additional data. This data can be any format and is tracked per version allowing you to store screen shots, upgrade details, etc... inside SerialSafe. Additionally many common file types are support embedded preview.
Why does SerialSafe require UAC elevation?
The File -> Scan Installed Products function works by scanning the Windows registry. Windows requires administrative permissions to properly access the registry.
